United Way of Greater Toronto, founded in 1956, funds a network of 200 health and social service agencies that support one in three people in Toronto, including young children, the homeless, abused woomen, newcomers, youth, seniors, people in crisis, and the disabled. United Way of Greater Toronto, the largest Centraide in the country, is part of a network of 126 United Ways/Centraides across the country.

Business Challenge

  • Minimise expenditures. In keeping expenditures low, United Way can allocate more funds to the social services agencies it supports.
  • Personalise interactions with donors. The high costs associated with traditional methods of communication prevented United Way from achieving personalised interactions with its entire donor base.
  • Increase donor reach. The high cost associated with traditional marketing campaigns prevented United Way from reaching large numbers of potential donors.
  • Difficulty attracting and retaining the technical employees required to manage new technologies. Most e-business solutions would have required Java programmers to update and maintain the technology.

Solution Description

Delano’s software allows automated donor campaigns:

  • An e-mail is sent to a potential donor in a fundraising campaign.
  • E-mail links donor to an on-line pledge form. Donor completes form and submits.
  • A Thank you page automatically appears in donor’s web browser.
  • A personalised thank you e-mail is immediately sent to donor’s mail box.
  • A few weeks later, an e-mail is sent to donor. E-mail could contain an on-line feedback survey and success stories. Delano’s e-Business Solution can process data from feedback survey.
