Enterprise
Repositories
This section will look at the role of Enterprise Repositories. These are
software databases and associated tools that hold information about the
organisation.
Repositories traditionally only held information about the IT systems (and
more usually known as Data Dictionaries) but have been extended in recent
years to hold information about functions and business processes. Within
SIM they are envisaged as having a corporate wide roll. They would encapsulate
the Architecture
and
could contain information on any of the following:
-
Marketing
-
Brands, campaigns, advertisements, promotions, costs, income, expenditure,
industry news, customer/supplier/distributor education and help
-
Products
-
Descriptions, features, components, product rules, pricing, costs, income,
expenditure
-
Processes
-
Functions, tasks, business rules, manuals, costs
-
Organisation
-
Structure, staff, roles, skills, responsibilities, costs
-
Technology
-
Systems, data, programs/components, reports, costs
The above information would be accessible in varying parts to:
-
Customers
-
Distributors
-
Agents
-
Management and Staff
-
Suppliers
The above information would also be accessible to the various SIM supporting
technologies:
