Requirements of an Object Technology System

There are many OT offerings. Your chosen system should provide:

LibraryLibrary Management

You will need to manage a large number of small components. This requires object class libraries with first class configuration management facilities, such as search and usage tracking facilities, and automatic change implementation. An Enterprise library (or Repository)Under Construction will also hold your business processes, rules, components, etc..

ExtensibleJigsaw

With a dynamic business environment to support, there is the need to add new object classes and methods with minimum impact on existing systems & data. If any non OT databases are used, then they too need to be flexible.

Performance

Demand on services will be variable, often in peaks following a promotion, and much of it on-line or via call centres. This requires a responsive systems architecture, performance monitoring tools and tuning facilities.

SafeSecurity & Integrity

Security is a big issue with consumers. This requires firewalls, encryption, trusted third-party arrangements, secure audit and transaction logs, restart / recovery tools, user access & change controls, etc. etc..
