An insurance
claims application running on a customer's PC connected to the Internet,
could invoke a costing program at the headquarters of the loss adjuster (and
that in turn may invoke a program at a motor manufacture). The resultant
repair estimate could then be sent electronically to an number of local repair
companies asking them to bid electronically for the work, giving availability
dates. Then the customer and assessor would come to a mutually agreeable
plan of action using a shared electronic diary, or whiteboard, or simply
taking by telephone, perhaps by Internet 'phone. The outcome would then be
sent to the insurance company concerned.
