BPR Project won in competition with 6 other consultancies

Managing Change is very pleased to announce that in conjunction with ValueAdding.com we have won a competitive tender bid to re-engineer a London local authority's customer facing processes. The aim is to radically improve council services to its citizens by means of re-engineered processes based around people's life events, delivered via a one-stop call centre. Other bidders included major well known consultancies.

In print in usableiTV

To help launch the new print magazine usableiTV we have been commission to write an article that we have called Tuning into Lifecycles. The first issue will be mailed to designers and developers across Europe.

usableiTV is produced by  the Interactive TV Design Network, a non-profit government funded project run by Serco Usability Services and Middlesex University in the UK. It's a project to create a discussion forum for researchers and developers in the interactive TV space concerned with usability and design issues.

Dynamic Pricing is Mainstream!

On the 12 August the Sunday Business Magazine had a 4 page feature on Dynmaic Pricing. We have updated our new section on Dynamic Pricing to include a number of the findings.

New Book Reviews

The Experience Economy coverWe have revamped the Books section and added 3 new reviews. The first is Joseph Pine's The Experience Economy, the second Jona Ridderstråle's and Kjell Nordstöm's provocativeFunky Business book cover Funky Business and finally the third is Seth Godin's Unleashing the Ideavirus. In many respects the books touch on the same topic: a future economic world based on emotional or experience based offerings, encapsulated in the increasing appearance of fad products or services.

IdeaVirus coverThe Swedish authors actually embody the idea within their book and their marketing - you've probably heard more about Funky Business than The Experience Economy. Nether-the-less both of these two books are of value, Funky Business for the concept and The Experience Economy for implementation.

Godin's book will help all those trying to forge a new market in a fad offering, a concept that may equally apply to rejuvenating boring bank accounts as to fashion items.

With this revamp we have now provided for all the reviewed books with links direct to Amazon.com Amazon US and Amazon.co.uk Amazon UK. Managing Change is an affiliate of Amazon.

A New Section on Dynamic Pricing

Pound symbolWe have started a completely new section looking at Dynamic Pricing. The internet and other Interactive Mediums, when combined with One to One Marketing (CRM), allows companies to dynamic vary the price of their goods and services. Of course, with Mass Customisation, customer products and services mean customer prices. The new section looks at the history of fixed and variable pricing and the various tactics employed. Internet auctions are covered including feature pages on eBay and PriceLine. We then look at the principles of value and behaviour that underpin Dynamic Pricing. We have also began to collect case studies. In the future we will look at the ethics and constraints to Dynamic Pricing as well as its implementation. Click here for the details.

Join Our On-line Dynamic Pricing Survey

Amazon is believed to practice Dynamic Pricing. We have launched a Dynamic Pricing Survey to see if this is true. Click on the link and then choose one of 4 items (a book, CD, DVD or PDA) and then select either the UK or US Amazon site. Note your price and enter it into the response form. It's very quick and easy. You will then be shown the results to-date and asked to invite up to 3 of your friends to also participate.

Why the Ads?

With so many visitors our ISP is surcharging us so we needed to consider ways of raising funds without penalising the many students who visit our site. We decided to join the Commission Junction Network and display banner advertisements. Please note that we are only remunerated if you purchase goods or services, or in some cases if you register, with an advertiser. For more details see Why Ads?

Affiliations etc..

We have been participating in Sherwood International's Business Technology Steering Group. This select group of senior key industry representatives from the insurance industry meets regularly to discuss information technology and the insurance sector. The steering group is also supported by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and the e-fs magazine (the new electronic financial services journal published by Incisive Media). Our first meeting was on 13 June 2001. The subject was "Translating the talk about e-business in insurance into genuine benefits".

We have joined with ValueAdding.com - experts in BPR and ABC. All participants have many years in-depth practical experiences plus strong academic credentials. We have just won a local government BPR tender in competition with 6 other companies. The aim is to radically improve council services to its citizens by means of re-engineered processes based around people's life events, delivered via a one-stop call centre.
